Bye Bye 2020

Most would agree that this was not a great year.  A disastrous year for many.  Covoid 19 has left no one untouched and all we can hope for is that 2021 brings vaccines, hope, and families and friends back together.  However, I really do not want to end this year on such a low.  Covoid has made everything harder but there are still things in 2020 that I would like to look back on and smile.  Friends got married (congrats Emma and Karl), babies were had (congrats Maria), friendships have been made (too many to list here, but Bahamas crew have been great) and even though it was not under the best circumstance I got to spend four months in beautiful Barbados.  Sebastian has grown bigger, brighter and every day brings so much joy to all around him.  I was able to get Lola out of Thailand after six months with the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  And by some small miracle, Sebastian was able to meet his Abuela.

Although I am certainly not sad to see the back end of this year and am hoping that 2021 brings the world a better year.  Big love to all my family and friends.  Happy Old Years Night!

Finally BFF's

We have worked on this friendship for months, it did not always look like we would be successful but today it finally happened.  Axel and Sebastian are true BFF's.  Nakita, Emilio, and Axel came over today for some veggie burgers and playtime.  We have tried and failed with playtime before but today for the first time they genuinely and happily played together.  It was amazing!

They actually held hands on their own and had lots of cuddles that I did not catch.

They are even thinking of starting a band together.  Going to be great!

Just Relaxing

The time between Christmas and New year is great when you have teacher holidays.  The lead-up to Christmas is always so busy, you are winding down from a crazy first term and well it does not seem so relaxing at all.  But the days after Christmas are great, still a bit far off to worry about going back to school, and well with a curfew here no real plans to be made for New Year's Eve.  The last few days, we have spent walking, beaching, and visiting the only play park we have found.

My best accomplishment since arriving.  A huge huge hole.  I actually hit the water level.  It was pretty amazing.

Afternoon walks

This almost made me cry.  We bumped into another teacher at school at this empty place. And their son walked Sebastian around.  It was so sweet.

Loads of park fun.  This place is very close it has loads of gardens and animals to explore. Today we got season passes so will be here a lot.

The Christmas Day we Imagined

Boxing Day was also freezing.  We spent it indoors trying to watch movies and keep Sebastian entertained.  Thankfully we have woken up to the picture-perfect day we dreamed of for Christmas.  Funny how things turn out though as I did love our Christmas and loved our set up inside the house.   We have started our first perfect day of the Christmas season with a lovely long walk on the beach.

Everyone was happy to be out and about.  Even Lola ran up and down the beach.  A perfect morning and hoping to enjoy the rest of the day like this.

Christmas Day

Happy Christmas! A wonderful one spent with our new bubble Bahamas buddies!  My Christmas toast:

What a strange year this has been,

Like no other that we have seen,

Masks, social distancing, and the video call,

There is no doubt it has been hard for all,

But new friends have helped us make it through,

And we want to thank every one of you,

So raise your glasses to Christmas 2020

We have friends, food and drink aplenty,

We love you all and so happy you are here,

But looking forward to the end of this damn year!

A wonderful day with family and friends!
