BBQ, Games and Cousins

On Saturday we moved to Lourdes's house in the Valley.  Sebastian was super excited to see all the toys and Jose again.  It was a day of BBQ, games, and catching up.  It also happened to be our anniversary.

Jose was super excited to start the games again, the Monopoly board quickly came out.

Buzz Light Year

On Friday we had a day out with Luis's Mum, first lunch at a nearby Italian and then to the movies.  It was an exciting day as it was Sebastian's first film in the theatre and second ever.  I am not sure it was the right choice as it was a little dark and scary but he loved it.  He will tell you that Buzz is now his favourite character and he does not like bad robots.

A great day out for all.

Chasing Bunnies

Yesterday we went for lunch at Myra's best friends daughters house.  It was a beautiful house and meal.  Sebastian had the best time playing football and chasing a rabbit.

Sebastian got early birthday presents and had a lovely day.

Parks, Cards and Family Fun

As the demonstrations continue and the capital is only half open we continue to have a lovely time.  I am full support of the indigenous and their demands so I have no problem at all with this.  It is about time things became more balanced in South America and following the recent Colombian elections I hope other countries follow.  We are still able to access parts of the city and have been on a park hunt everyday.

Some kid Yoga

Possibly my favourite thing to do is beat Papi Lucho at curentha.  Three times now.

Luis's cousin and their children also came over for games and cards on Wednesday night. Sebastian is having a wonderful time with all of his Ecua family.

Friends, Equa Fam and Protests

Day two has been wonderful even if the country is now being paralysed by protests.  In the morning we went to see, Juan, Luis's best friend, and his new wife, Joni, before they flew back to Miami.  She is lovely and it was great to see Juan.  And what a small world, she told me her best friend from College saw a comment I made on her wedding announcement and said 'how in the world do you know my favourite teacher?'! I knew exactly who she meant before she said another word, Melissa June from Basel, also one of my favourites.  I was slightly horrified that she was asking me about my former student but there we go!

We then went to lunch at Andrew and Belen's, two of the original Ecuador family who also came to our wedding.  They have two little girls, Mia who is 5, and Lily who is 3.  Sebastian had the best time, in fact we all did.  It was so lovely to catch up with them.

We then got the phone call to start making our way home.  The protestors had entered Quito, things were closing and everyone preparing for what could turn out to be the overthrowing of the current government.  Fun times.
