Beach Days and Taco Tuesdays

The dry season, funny enough, is just so much more beautiful and lovely than the wet.  I cannot remember the last real rain we had, and to get up everyday to lovely blue skies and calm crystal clear waters is pretty fabulous (the sea is so dramatically different in the rainy season, unswimable really).  Of course, I always find myself too busy to enjoy the season as much as I should, but going to make a real effort this season.

Off to a good start, hanging at the beach with some friends (best way to do it).  The water is just so different from the rainy season I really should post some pictures together to show the dramatic change.

Also an attempt to get out of the house more and basically to stop binge watching Netflix, I am trying to do things throughout the week.  This brings us to Taco Tuesday.  Who doesn't love Mexican, and an added bonus all you can eat Mexican!  You basically had to roll me out.

Vegan Junk Food Night

I love getting together with these lot and it is always great to try their tasty creations.  Lizzie and Alastair hosted the event with the theme 'junk food'.  We had fried 'chicken', poutine, enchiladas, carrot 'hotdogs' and a whole lot of chocolate delights.   The most shocking thing was the carrot hot dogs, they literally were carrots and tasted super close to actual hot dogs.  The non-vegans and kids in the group were shocked.  I couldn't even eat one as it was just too similar for me.  All in the marinade apparently.  I made poutine (with veggie gravy and cheese) and some chocolate chip cookies (which were also amazing if I do say so myself!).  I ate way too much, lost a few races and came last in bingo, but all together another great night!

The kids made this Vegan Fried Chicked sign
Luis is always that adult that entertains the kiddos.
The poutine, so easy and such a hit!
 The running races

 Lots of eating

Ended with a game of bingo.  I am so going to miss this family next year, can't believe they are leaving me!!

Running (walking) Lake

My big thing this week was the introduction of some exercise into my daily routine after a four month break.  That is a long time off any exercise for me, but enough is enough time to get back at it.  So I have started going to the running lake close to our house every day after school (although for me it is the walking lake!).  I feel so much better just doing something again, even if it is not loads!

A lot of fish feeding goes on here, I am not sure I have ever seen so many fish in one spot.

It is such a lovely spot and a good place to visit after a day coped up inside.

Lola still gets her beach walks too, but in her golden years she only has small walks.  I can tell you who is most thankful about this, the crabs.

Busy Busy Sunday

I had a super busy sunny Sunday, but I forgot my phone so some of my events are not recorded (I hate that!).  Started the morning with coffee with Jacqui and Quinlan (son), then went way down South for beach time and lunch.  Finished the night with dinner out with Leica (who I had not seen in ages).
The only pictures I took were of lunch and South.
South is so super busy, me and Lola only lasted on the beach for a few minutes.  In fact this is not a good representation of the day, doesn't look nearly as packed as it was.
Lunch with my number one family.  I just love these kiddos and have so much fun with them, oh and the parents are okay too!

A lovely afternoon.  The only thing that was painful was the amount of people.  It totally stresses me out the millions of people on motorbikes with no helmets.  I saw one accident and one near disaster and just think people are crazy. I have no idea why they think that is okay not to wear helmets in Thailand.  Phuket is not some remote part of Thailand (not that it makes it ok) but it is super busy with lots of traffic.  It just stresses me out and I am not even at risk of being hurt!

Final Come Dine With Me

The final Come Dine with Me was hosted by Ruth and Adam last night at the Doodle and Bone Pub.  They hosted a great night with full pub quiz and all.  A delicious three course meal with my favourite sticky toffee pudding as pudding.  Entirely vegan and super yummy.
Kim and Sean were amazing, coming in full costume.  Sean part of the foreign legion and Kim sporting a Princess Beatrice hat.
Round one, which beer is which.

 Let the dinner commence

 The pub master at work
Quiz winners.  All my fault, I let the side down with my poor anagram skills.  A lovely way to wrap up the competition, now waiting for the scores to be tallied up!

Gold Medal

Last night we finally made it out of the house and went to play some golf.  Well mini golf, but still a sport I reckon (especially due to the result).  We have not been there for ages and I forgot how fun it can be.   It was Iwisyi's golfing debut and she was a natural, I see a champion in our future.  Unfortunately for her we played in partners last night and Luis and myself managed to sneak by the others to win the gold.

We then waited a ridiculously long time for what was admittedly a pretty fabulous pizza.

Reports and Sunsets

We started back to school at full pelt, within days we were reminded of the hundreds of reports we had to write.  I shouldn't complain as we were lucky enough to have a nice long Christmas break, and really reports are a pain in the ass anytime of the year.

But I can tell you afternoon walks, with my L's, on the beach with the sunsetting makes you quickly forget about reports!

Paddle Board Adventure

Yesterday morning we went on our first long paddle board adventure with the real pros at our school.   It is something we really should do more often as it was super beautiful and we got to see beautiful beaches that you cannot access by the road.

A lovely morning out with some even more lovely people.  Can't wait till the next adventure.
