The Bahamas Drama

We really did not know we were going until 11th hour, Luis and Sebastian got approved VISA's and mine was denied.  But at the last minute, it all came together.  I am not quite sure I was really ready for that to happen.  We have been so lucky these months and had such a great time.   There have been very stressful, sad, and uncertain moments of course.  I miss Lola so badly, every time I think about it too much I just want to bawl.  I just have to know she is being taken care of by fabulous people and we will get her as soon as possible.  When we left Barbados yesterday it was very hard to say good bye.  Poor Sebastian had no idea he would not have these great people in his daily life anymore.  We are so lucky to have such amazing family in friends. Barbados is just fabulous.
Goodbye at the airport, always a hard one.
Sebastian was a dream. It took 30 hours and he was amazing.
We spent the night in Toronto airport, these were all the International flights going today.  I am quite sure it would have been 20 times more on a normal day.
We arrived safely just in time for a hurricane forecasted for tomorrow morning.

A Goodbye Evening

Well we were not sure if we would even leave, but Craig had his fingers crossed and some people came by to say goodbye.  We had a great evening, we told lots of old stories and it was fabulous.  I felt so sad to be celebrating our departure, as we have had such an amazing time these past four months.  At this point, we did not really know if we would be leaving though as the Bahamas keep changing the entry rules.

It was a horrible evening weather-wise and usually, Bajans do not move far in the rain so it was nice to see so many people before we set off to leave.  We will miss it here so much.

Sunday Lunch and Beach

On Sunday we took Aunty Andy and Vicki for lunch and then headed for an afternoon at the beach.  We went to a place in the countryside, called Peg Farm.  It was a very pretty location and the food for meat eaters looked delicious, I can say the veggie dish was a bit of a miss.  Nonetheless, it was a super nice lunch and we had a great time.

It was also potentially a goodbye as we try to get to the Bahamas on Thursday.

We then went to a beach I have never been to.  It was beautiful and we enjoyed a swim and a play on the beach.

Sebastian's One

Sebastian is a whole-year-old, I cannot quite believe it.  I also cannot quite believe that he ended up celebrating it in Barbados.  His first home was on a small island on the River Thames, he then moved to Phuket Thailand his second island and now has turned one in his third home also on an island.  The first eight months of his life he got to explore many places, going to eight different countries, and the past four months he got to know so many friends and family in Barbados.  Obviously, Covoid has presented us with some challenges but Sebastian has been blissfully unaware and kept us upbeat and focused.   We celebrated his actual birthday with an afternoon on the beach which I am also confident was the best day of his life.  It was so great to see him playing with so many children, something we have not had the opportunity to do for so long.

In the morning, Kailee and her friends rushed over to feed him breakfast and wish him happy birthday.

Kailee's friend also helped us make his cakes.

We feel so lucky to have him in our lives and now excited to see what the toddler experience is like.  I know for sure he will keep us on our toes!

Ladies Dinner and Beach

Last night I went out to dinner with Rosette, Natalie, and Vicki.  We went to a place called Salt that I really wanted to try.  Not that it mattered where we went as it was really about the company.  We had a really nice night, I will be so sad to say goodbye next week (assuming we actually make it on a plane).

 Looking good gals!
This afternoon we spent at the beach to celebrate his last day of being a true baby.  He is definitely on the toddler border and with his big birthday tomorrow I think he might be exiting the 'baby baby' age.

He just loves the water.  I can't believe in the four months we have been here, we have only been allowed to go the last couple of weeks.  It is so much easier with him on the beach!

Eco Lifestyle Barbados

We decided after our train adventure that we should make it a weekend of adventures.  I had heard about this new eco place on the East Coast and Natalie reminded me of it Sunday morning.  Sebastian, Luis, and I drove across for Sunday lunch there and it was hands down one of the best vegan or veggie meals I have ever had.  Not to mention the views were spectacular.  It was a delicious afternoon and I would highly recommend the place.

The best tacos ever.  Not the best vegan tacos (although they were) but simply the best tacos.

The weather was just fantastic this weekend, crazy hot, but still beautiful.
