Beach Picnic

The world pandemic is so much like a rollercoaster.  For some countries the ride is not so bad (much of Asia now) and for others the ride is out of control.  After a brief scare a couple weeks ago with numbers in the double digit (which is big for a population of 30, 000) things have seem to have calmed down.  The track and trace system in place seems to be working, which should by any easier feat in a small population.  However, we all know this could change any minute, that we are very lucky to be living in outside beach world and guards cannot be dropped.  Therefore it seems like breezy beach outdoor days are best.  Yesterday, was the nicest day on the island, I would say, since we arrived.  The beach was just amazing, so we set up our tent and enjoyed the day.

A tent per family.  We have had our moments feeling isolated here and of course missing family.  But I do know I have to realise how lucky we are as so much of the world enters winter with second and third waves.

Growing Fast

Alison sent these too me yesterday.  A day playing on the beach with Sebastian (well Friday).  I just could not believe it when I saw them.  Really what has happened with my baby?! I really thought I was looking at a two year old toddler not my 16 month old baby.

Oh and I just clocked him in his beach shoes.  He is too sweet!

Grand Bahamas Ladies Wine Club

Last night was the very first Grand Bahamas Ladies Wine Club.   It has been postponed many times and is a small group (basically our Covoid bubble) but a great group.  I started with a tasting game, guessing the wine type and cost.  I love this game as often the most expensive and the cheapest are confused.  This happened again last night as the $6 came out almost on top.  We had a lovely evening and I hope it turns into something, small for now but hopefully growing when (and if) we ever get a vaccine.

Happy weekend!

The Stone Crab

Is the most exciting thing that has happened to us since we have arrived.  I probably have not said but I have slowly crossed the few restaurants here off our list to go because of terrible food or service or both.  The only place we would take food from was our friend's amazing Vegan cafe.  But if we wanted to go out it was becoming impossible.  We also will not sit inside and only want to be somewhere outside and breezy.  The Stone Crab has checked all the boxes.  Outside and breezy, great service, vegan food, and delicious.  I am literally in the best mode today that I have been in since arriving (well fifth-best mood for sure).

And Lola loved it as well :)

Great poke bowl

We had our own private corner
Sebastian insisted on getting the bill.
But at a closer look, he was not too sure he wanted to pay it.
A great atmosphere, we will be back!

16 Months

He is getting a little bigger, a whole lot chattier, and if possible that much sweeter.  Happy 16th month to our precious Sebastian Henry!

The ever telling, do they love me daisy trick.
Here he is a happy chappy running into his 16th month!!

Best Day Ever

Sebastian had the best day ever yesterday.  Probably the thing I hate most about this pandemic on a personal level is that Sebastian has little interaction with anyone under 5 feet.  Everyone keeps telling me this is not really a big deal but when I see him, the very odd time with children he is just so happy.  He runs, plays, squeals, and is just crazy excited.  I understand that developmentally he will be fine but I would love to see him like this far more often.

We got invited to our friend's complex pool. It was totally freezing, Sebastian was purple but he did not want to get out for anything.  He was so tired when we left, I could barely feed him any dinner before he begged for milk and bed.  Too cute.

Painting Night

Last night I had an evening of wine and painting.  It was great. It is exactly what I needed and I just enjoy painting so much (even if I am a very basic painter).

I am continuing to make animals for Sebastian's room. We are hopeful we will finish his room next weekend.  A fantastic evening!

Our Shipment Arrived

I will never ever say that I have no clothes again.  After living out of a backpack for the last eight months.  When I told the students that our stuff was actually arriving they asked if that meant I would wear a different shirt finally.  I literally only have three that I have been rotating.  I almost cried when I saw the truck roll-up.  It is so nice to have all our stuff here and it made it feel much more like home.

Sebastian was so excited and kissed all his teddies without me even asking him to.  And the boxes! I have to hide them for his Christmas present. It is just so great to have our stuff!

Banana Bay Sunday

It was almost too good to believe but Sunday was actually a nicer day then Saturday. It was so beautiful.  We had made plans with Sebastian's best and only friends family.  We had to cancel a few times due to weather so it was great to finally see them.   Sebastian and Axel are not totally convinced about their life long friendship but we are working on it.

Sebastian working on sharing, still lots of work to be done!

It was pretty magical.

A glorious day.  I am not sure how many more are left.  It feels like a lockdown or new rules will be with us shortly.  Cases going up once again.
