Basel

So when I first entered Basel, i must admit I felt the tears starting to come (I can be slightly dramatic..), but honestly even Lola looked horrified.  Where were all my mountains and beautiful lakes and why were they replaced with smoke stacks!  I certainly knew I would not be bumping into Heidi anytime soon.  Luckily I ended up loving my flat which helped a bit.  Again, luckily, most of the newbies have cars so we have explored outside of Basel.  However, the school gave us a guided tour of Basel and it is actually lovely, the Rhine certainly helps and many of us (not me or Lola, Lola was scared so I stayed with her ;)) have swam down it. Anyways below are some pictures of Basel, but of course one should see for oneself!

ISB

ISB is a lovely place to be, they really treated us like royalty when arriving, am so scared they will soon realise I am adequate at best ;) !  It is just out of the city and my room has lovely views.  The kids are tremendous and not at all what I was expecting, it is really nice to have different opinions and ideas from people from all over the world. The maths department are great and have been so helpful, going to be a tough year, but with my organisationally skills I should be fine!!!  Below are some views from
my class room..

Lola

As the title of this blog is Amanda and Lola, i thought I would add a bit about her adventures.  She was very miserable for the first few weeks, and is now so much happier.  She went swimming for the first time last week in Germany (it was so funny), and she enjoyed running around the mountain yesterday. She is still dodging cameras, but not nearly as badly and I have managed a few pictures.  Oh and she even has her own dog walked, who she loves!

Wine and Cheese and Hergiswil

So after a very busy first week of school (with the kids there), we had a very busy weekend.  On Friday night I went (Lola stayed in) to a friend's, William, wine and cheese get together which was very nice.

Saturday I went to a wine and cheese festival in France, with friends from school.  It was a great event, and of course a lot of wine was tasted, but it would have been rude not too!  Here are a few pictures from the wine festival.

Sunday, we went to Hergiswil, with Fernanada and her dog Lupen, it was soooooo beautiful and have attached the pictures below.  A must see and we will go back.
