Sebastian First Parent Teacher Conference

I love the Early Years Centre here and am so happy that Sebastian has the opportunity to go there.  He loves school, his teachers and everyday seems more and more happy there.  On Friday we got to speak to his teacher for ten minutes and reconfirm to us that he is just the sweetest child ever.

The top one is a picture Sebastian drew of us.
I was slightly concerned before this meeting about the age gap in the class.  As it is EY1 and EY2 and he turned 3 just before the cut off day of August 1st it means that he is almost two years younger than many children in his class.  But this meeting put my mind at ease and he seems to be doing super well.

Luke Curtis in the House

Just to make our weekend extra exciting, Luke flew in for a night.  We lived with Luke for two years in Phuket and were so excited to have him.  We had a great time catching up on the town and over a long Sunday lunch.

Jacqui left us at 9pm for the airport but it was to have us all together for a brief moment.

We played a little pool.

And ended up at Havana Social.  A place with some great Latin music, and a really cool set up.  Luke is still the most lovely person and we had such a nice time together.  It is great to be back to Thailand and so close to these people.

Proper Jacqui Catch Up

Friday night I spent out with Jacqui and her Bangkok friends.  She is an inspirational lady.  Unlike me she doesn't just talk the talk but actually walks the walk.  She started a branch of a group called Women's Ed here in Bangkok.  She is big on changing the educational system to be more inclusive of women (particularly at management level).  I enjoyed meeting the ladies of the group and spending a rather late night at our flat coming up with ideas to create a better world.

It was a hard morning Saturday though, as Sebastian must have known we went to be late so was wide awake at 5am.

Jacqui B in de House

The best thing about being back in Thailand is without a doubt our proximity to so many of our great friends.  We moved to Phuket shortly after getting married and it was the first place we made friends together.  And during our time in Phuket so much happened that forever changed our lives.  We lost my Dad.  We lost a baby.  And we had Super Sebastian.  I was and am so thankful for the love and support we had from our friends in Phuket during these times.  And I am so happy to be close to them once again.   How amazing that Jacqui could so easily pop over for a few days, it is so great to spend time with her again.

I cannot wait for our children to meet again and look forward to all the times we will share again.

Best Vegan Sushi Ever

Life changing vegan sushi was had on Saturday night.  It was so fantastic and now my favourite place to eat in the world, Golden Gate Sushi.  It took a long time to get there, Bangkok traffic is slow, Bangkok traffic in the pouring rain is crazy.  But it was well worth the wait and I will return.

We then went out in our neighbourhood for a glass of wine.  It is a cool area and so different at night then it is day.  A great Saturday night.

Asit and Charu's House

Sebastian is totally in love with Asit and Charu.  I have never seen him so excited to go anywhere on an evening.  Usually after school we have to beg, bride and then drag him out of the house.  Friday evening, he was so excited to go out the door and to their apartment for dinner.  They have the most positive happy vibe and he picked up on that form our first meeting.  It also helps they spoil him with love, bread sticks and chocolate (but really feel like it is more the love).   In fact, they spoil us all rotten making an extra effort to make an entirely vegan Indian meal.

Sebastian also happily went to the playground with Asit, which is very unusual he usually requires Mum or Dad on such an adventure.  I could not have imagined a better way to kick off the weekend.

Condoms Restaurant and Birthdays

On Sunday we went to lunch at Condoms and Cabbages, we had heard a lot about it but never been.  It is certainly an interesting place and they do lots of good but condoms are everywhere. In fact, you really do get condoms instead of mints at the end.

After lunch we went home to get ready for our first birthday party.  A boy from Sebastian's class younger brother's 2nd birthday.  It was on our road and Luis felt we should go as he is the class rep.  I HAVE NEVER EVER seen anything like it.

Food trucks, fully stocked bar, about 50 staff working it, bouncing castle, face painting, balloon making, bikes, proper trampolines that you find indoor places, playgrounds, a tennis court, a golf driving room... And more and more.  The gift they gave Sebastian was 10 times the worth of what we gave him.  BUT it is even more crazy!  We assumed they rented a private tennis club BUT they built it for their children.  It was their private play ground.  They live a few streets away. They did not like their four year old on social media so built it!  It was nicer than any play centre we have been to here.  I just could not get my head around it.  I am so thankful Sebastian's birthday is in July!  Ridiculous!
