Laguna Sprint Tri

At least I did not do the full triathlon - 0.5km swim, 20km cycle and 6k run was what I did.  I did it in 1hr and 33 minutes placing 7th.  The bike was the funniest and I think if i actually knew what I was doing I could have gained an extra 5 minutes here.  The swim was so hard, it was in an awful lake and it was scary.  I am super happy I did it and feeling proud.

Next year - aiming for the podium!

Straight to Phuket and the Laguna Triathlon

Most people thought I was crazy, I ran from the bus from camp and jumped into a taxi to head to the airport and my first ever Triathlon.  And instead of starting with a small one, I chose an Internationally recognised one, that has actually been dubbed as one the Worlds best by many publications.  There are Olympians and pros from all over the world attending.  I was extremely nervous, especially with a sore knee, the lack of riding a bike on an actual road and no recent swims as our pool closed (for repair).  But I got there, got my bike, went to the briefings, found a friend and felt sick with nerves all day Saturday.

Lucy came from Singapore to do it as well. I was so thankful to see a smiling face.  And she was so helpful.

We had lunch with some elephants.

And dinner and beach with Sebastian's baby friend Sage and her Mum Laura.

Year 9 Camp Khao Chamao District

It is no secret how much I dread action week every year.  I do not enjoy leaving my family and I do not think it is a teachers responsibility to get the students to challenge themselves or show them the wilderness.  I became a teacher to teach Mathematics.  And I do many other things and am a very caring teacher but giving up a week of my family and me time is not okay in my opinion.  But hey ho, i have no choice.  This year I was with Year 9, half hotel and half camping.  We went to the Khao Chamao district and did a little hiking, kayaking and a few other activities. I actually really liked the camping spot and it was not as bad as I anticipated.  The best part is it is over for another year!

I also got to spy on Saba!

Another year done!

Grand Centre Point Space Hotel Pattaya

The hotel is obviously modeled around space and it is quite unique.  They have a water park, a great games room, mini golf and activities all day.  Sebastian loves it. He got his first hole in one in mini golf, partied at the foam party and enjoyed the roof top restaurant.  I think the water park was not as good as the one we went to for Lyndsey’s birthday and there were a few things I would change but it was great. I was surprised to find out that it was a family hotel which means they do not serve alcohol but then at the same time didn’t let children into rooftop pool (which seemed a little anti family!).  They had a very weird token system, you got two at check in and could not buy more. And it was token a person for mini golf for example (we eventually got around this by buying a membership that gave us a few more tokens). But then could not get more. But they have made something unique and most importantly Sebastian lived it and was proud to have treated the family.

Sebastian’s Hotel Treat

Sebastian has been dying to go to the space hotel for the last year. But it is silly money, 200 pounds a night, and here that is a lot. We told we could not afford it and would have to be a special treat one day. Well he really wanted to go so decided to sell his Paw Patrol toys to raise the money.  We sold all of them in record time and booked the hotel.  We left early Saturday morning to take full advantage of this special treat from Sebastian.
