May Wine Night Soi 13

Last night was my turn to do wine night and I decided on a three place tour around the neighbourhood.  We are spoilt for choose where we live, and I could have not have been happier about the three spots I chose.  First we met at a roof top for a cocktail before heading to Urban Wine shop for a tasting and ending at Punjab Grill a little further down.  Each place was fabulous.  Urban Wine spoilt us and the value was just amazing.  Wine, prosecco and cheese boards, alongside my get to know each other bingo (3 new people) was magic.  Then we headed to Punjab Grill, it was fantastic and treated us like Queens.  We had our own private room and server.  It is a place recognised in the Michele Guide three years running and the food was excellent.    I had never been to any of the places (well just to set it all up) and they definitely will see us again.  The white wine team were the winners, of the games at the Grill.  It was a fun evening to end the academic year.

Before wine night, Chris took me out for a late birthday celebration.  We had a lovely much needed catch up.

Destination Race to nowhere....

Sunday morning I was up and ready to go at 4am to go across Bangkok to another race.  I sort of knew something was different the moment I arrived. Although I could see hundreds of people, there was no noise.  Usually there is music, some lead warms ups and just general atmosphere.  But it was quiet.  An Italian man came to speak to me right away and old me the organiser's had not showed. All the equipment was there, the prizes, the medics but no one to actually run the event.  It was like they ran off the last minute.  The Thai's were so great.  They were upset as the entry was not cheap but they soon laughed it off.  They joked and took pictures.  Some organised the race, in a casual way, which I did.  Then the police arrived and they all queued to sign their name of complaint.  My new Italian friend told me in Italy they would have burned the place to the ground.  Thai culture is just so nice.

I finished it anyways and the people who had taken over giving out the awards gave me my medal. We have since learnt that they abandoned the event just before they started as they realised they were in over their heads.  Apparently, they will return the money. We will see!

Mike and Kim Mexican

This entire weekend was a busy one, in fact the next few ones are manic before we leave.  Saturday night after Get Growing we headed to Kim and Mike's for dinner.  Sebastian had the best fun filled day ever.

TukTuk home a few hours before I had to get up for another race..

Get Growing The Green Lung

I have heard so much about this place.  It is a place on an island on the river here in Bangkok.  The island is called the Green Lung and it is a beautiful spot in nature to cycle or walk around.  There is a place on it called Get Growing that Sebastian has been to several times but never me.  I went for the first time Saturday with him for a small birthday party.   It certainly did not disappoint and lived up to all the great things I had heard about it.  Sebastian and all the kids had a bawl.  I even went down the mud slide and played with them in the pond, although I have no photos to verify this.

They had loads of different animals and is a great outside place for the children to do some risk taking activities.

Abundance Salsa

Friday after dinner with Mayra, Luis and myself went to a local bar to practice our salsa.  They had a salsa party, with a free hour of lessons at the start.  We missed the lessons but got there in time for the dancing.  It was great as so many people were just learning and therefore we did not feel intimidated by wonderful dancers.  There definitely was some wonderful dancers but some at all levels.  We are getting there, just need more practice!

Saba's Play

I finally attended a school play. I feel badly that I have not gone before but Sebastian was a bit young and I did not really 'know' many in the productions.  But this year wild horses could not keep me away.  Saba was Cinderella on this funny take on all the fairy tales. I am not sure what I expected but it was amazing.  It was so well done and Sebastian loved it as did we all.  He was also super excited to wear his new Barbados shirt, a gift from Zemi.
