Mindo Adventures

I have been to Mindo about ten times and it never disappoints.  Usually we only come for one or two nights but time we decided to stay four days and do some of the activities.  The place I chose is amazing and I can’t believe I have never stayed here before.  It has two beautiful pools, the cabins are fantastic, the restaurant is a great place to spot birds and the views all around are spectacular.  Our first day we spent at the butterfly sanctuary and then did the night walk.  I have never done that walk before and our guide was amazing and I learnt loads.

Sunday Family Roast

Somehow we volunteered to cook Sunday Roast for 18 people.  We definitely needed to do something for all the kindness Luis’s family has shown us but with both his sisters being fabulous cooks, I was nervous.  But with my sisters gourmet cauliflower cheese and a tone of other various vegetables, we pulled off. Another beautiful Sunday with the family.

Cumbaya Kids Paradise Lunch

In Bangkok I am always on a quest for the best kids play place where I can sit and have lunch. I dread going to indoor play places where I have to run behind Sebastian for three hours.  On Saturday Lourdes took us to a dream place. The kids were so excited at all the different bouncy castles, zip lines, characters, climbing and more.  The food wasn’t the best but totally worth it for the kids playing all afternoon.

Before lunch we went to the market, all of this cost 25 US dollars.

Hacienda El Rejo, Machachi

After returning from Palumbo we had one day at Lourdes and then headed off the next day to Hacienda El Rejo in Machachi.  It is really such a fabulous place, lots of animals, a huge house, hot tub, the staff are super and my favourite but the horse riding.  Both days we went on the horses. I was so proud of my sister and niece.  Nicola did some galloping on the trail and Freda went the whole trail ride on her own horse. Sebastian loved it again, although I don’t want him in his own horse anytime soon as I think he would try and run off!   I also took half an hour by myself and galloped through the trails, it was amazing. Myra, Luis’s Mum and Dad also came with us which was an added bonus.  But out of all the memorable things, probably what the kids will remember the most is working together to cool down the literally boiling hot tub.  They worked together to put cold water in the tub along with ice.  Eventually all who wanted in made it in.
