Jet lag, Games and Dinner

Monday was a long day for me and Sebastian. Both of us up from 4am.  By 10am I felt like we had an already done a full day.  We had a swim in the pool, had a walk, went to a few playgrounds.  His cousins were in summer camp all day but the minute they got home he was straight over there.  I then managed to beat them all at fuss ball, charades, some video games.  Basically just my usual competitive self.  They are a lovely family and it has been so wonderful getting to know them.  The youngest is also called Sebastian so that has been super fun for Sebastian.  We all then enjoyed a Mexican meal out.

I knew I should have checked the photo the server took! Not great this one.

Houston TXS

After 28 hours we arrived to Houston just after midnight on Sunday.  I am not going to lie I was nervous to go through immigration. We made it unscathed, just a ‘random’ luggage search.  We are in a red state but staying with the most wonderful blue people. Sunday we had Fathers Day celebrations at Luis’s cousin Nicole’s house.  They only love three houses down from Luis’s Aunt and have four young boys. It was a great way to kick off the holidays!

School is Out!

Whoop! Whoop! School holidays! Tomorrow starts our 5 country, 3 continent holiday. What were we thinking!!  Last day involved some assemblies and finished with a drink in the pub.  I can say the third year was much easier and annoyingly Luis killed his first year!

Having this family has made it the most amazing place to be.  I will miss them this summer.

Sebastian's Bangkok Birthday Party

Sebastian was SO excited for this party.  Way more excited than I have ever seen him. He invited everyone in his class and the building children.  It was definitely a big party.  His theme was mermaids, pirates, sponge bob and spider man.  We spent Saturday and Sunday morning constructing the cake.  We had a near disaster as when we inflated our friends waterslide it had a hole.  This was fairly stressful as I would say it is safe to say Sebastian handles change and disappointment badly.  I spent the next two hours hunting dow a waterslide.  I got it and it was delivered and set up 8 minutes before the party. There was a magician/ballon maker and the party was a great success. The children and adults all had a great time.  He got so many lovely presents and woke up today exhausted (sign of a good party).

Waiting for his guests.

Thai SEM Race

It was hard getting up before 5 to attend this race.  I was tired from the night before, but I managed to drag myself up.  I am so happy that I did, as finally I got a place!  I could not believe it, but actually came third overall female (no age category).  I was so proud, I almost cried.  It was a wonderful way to end the school year and I am looking forward to doing more next academic year.

Super happy!

Maths Dinner

Saturday evening my boss, Mark, hosted the Mathematics dinner for our department.  I was only going to go for an hour, as was running a race Sunday morning and had to prepare for Sebastian's Bangkok birthday party.  But it was so nice, I do not often get to talk to everyone in my department, that I stayed much longer than I intended.

A predrink with two of my favourites.

Bangkok Pride

Sunday the celebrations continued.  We went out to brunch and then headed to Bangkok Pride.  By Sunday evening we were all tired.  We finished the weekend off with a swim in the pool, dinner and bed!
