In August, Sebastian’s best friend Zoe’s Mum asked if we wanted to do a Spartan race in Phuket. I have a friend in Canada who does loads of them but I didn’t really know much about them. What it did sound like was a great excuse to go to Phuket. So I signed myself up for Saturday and the kids race Sunday. About a week ago they sent me an email with the 20 obstacles I would have to do. I started freaking out. This was no ordinary race and the obstacles are extreme. Then Zoe’s Mum backed out (knee injury) and I was by myself. We flew to Phuket late Friday night and Saturday morning I found myself sick with nerves at the starting line. Everyone told me it would take 2 hours, 1.5 if I was fast. Luis and Sebastian went off for a play, and were planning to come back in plenty of time to see my finish. I finished in 58 minutes, I won my age bracket and came 19/220 of all females running and 74 including another 250 men. I have never been so proud of myself I think. Pictures to follow as Luis and Sebastian could not follow the race and the professional ones come out soon. After we had a wonderful evening at the beach with his friends and some of ours in Phuket.
