Terrabambu Lodge - More Waterfalls and Ecuador Loss

Terrabambu lodge did not disappoint again.  Especially with our favourite family of Toucans.  The pools, the atmosphere, the staff and food were all great.  Our final full day we went to the waterfalls again.  A harder hike than we have ever done before with Sebastian passing 4 waterfalls and ending up at a beautiful one for swimming.  He did very well on the way there, he was not as keen on the way back.

Some shots from the lodge we stayed.

The thing with photographs is they do not capture the true beauty of waterfalls.  This looks so average but they were so beautiful.  Also there is no one else around it was like we just discovered these magical places (well except for the very obvious walked on path!).

We then settled in to watch the Ecuador game which sadly did not go our way.  But having three teams in the knockout stages was getting too much.  I do not think i have ever watched so much football!

Los Montanas, Waterfalls, Hummingbirds, Butterflys and Ziplines

On our first full day we managed loads.  It is funny that I have been to Mindo so many times and still have not done loads.  I guess I just end up doing the same thing.  This year I drove past the spot that we usually go to see the waterfalls and we came across this place called Las Montanas.  Here we feed wild hummingbirds and then did a different trail to different waterfalls.  The owner gave us a walkie talkie in case we got lost and directions to 'call' him once we got to the cable car to bring us back.  After an amazing hike we headed to see the butterflys and lunch, finishing the day with an exciting Zipline adventure.  Sebastian was so brave, I was so terrified it would snap.  But we all survived!

I had non idea how beautiful hummingbirds are.  Amazing colours and their feathers look just like sequences.

I almost forgot then we went to do the chocolate factory to do a tasting!

Mindo - Where it all Began

As it is our 10 year anniversary we thought it only fitting we had a few days in Mindo.  Sebastian had been here three times before but he does not have a strong memory of it.   We arrived on Sunday just in time for lunch and to watch Canada go through to the final 16 of the mens World Cup.  We checked into our lodge which we stayed in once before.  I loved it here last time but this time was even more amazing as in a tree in front of our cabin there was a family of Toucans.  In the 12 times I have been to Mindo I have only ever seen one and I love them.  It was properly amazing to have them just in front of us all day.  We also saw loads of tangaras (not sure English word).
