Red Sonic Emma
Christmas 2022 we went to Phuket and Sebastian spent only one day with Emma. But Emma is great fun and at that time played 'Blue and Red sonic' with him. He was blue and she was red. Last week he randomly asked for her. This was strange as a) he had not seen or mentioned her for 15 months but b) she was coming this weekend. Emma was here for a course and came over Saturday before going out with me. He was so excited and ridiculously loving to her.
Before she arrived Sebastian had an amazing day with his buddies. I thought it would be at least another year before he did not want to hang with Mum and Dad but nope he is all about his friends now.
Asit, Charu, Chris and Kerry
After a horrendous week at work it was exactly what the doctor ordered having this lot to dinner. Of course, it was Mexican and there was a game.
Sebastian the Chef
On Wednesday Sebastian decided he wanted to cooke dinner and amazingly he decided to try one of my favourites, eggplant parmigiana. He did such a good job and it was the best that has come up of my oven in years. Too bad he was not a fan but me and Luis sure were.

Emma's 40th
Another school, another Emma! What is funny is just how similar both my Emma's are. Both are ridiculously caring, intelligent ladies who both like a good party. Therefore, I was under no illusion that Emma's 40th birthday celebration would be anything less than fantastic. She had an 80's theme, my costume parts did not arrive and I just threw together what I could. I do love me a theme. We went to a restaurant she had booked out and had a lovely time.

International Women's Day
I am not sure if it is because I am getting older and wiser but now I just see how far behind women are from achieving any thing resembling equality. Possibly in other decades I was busy with work, starting a family or I am not really sure why but now it is so glaringly obvious every day. Yesterday, I found out an ex colleague of mine had been given a Headship of a school. He started the year after me in one of my previous schools. He was infamous for coming in smelling of booze and somedays it was questioned if not straight from a bar. Within a year he was promoted, and within five he has gone through the ranks and been given a school to Head next year. I then thought of so many other examples of the same thing, and I thought of all the people I have worked with, most of my women friends have stayed in the same jobs or been given a token middle managed positions over the years, whereas many males have progressed through management. I am passed over all the time, in meetings my opinions or thoughts are looked over and I know most people are totally unaware of it. This might be my experience as my subject if usually dominated by male teachers but I suspect it is not. This morning I presented a riddle to the students where the answer was the CEO was a women. And still no one got the answer. But I cannot fault them, yesterday I was looking at a Maths blog by Dr. Austin, and I assumed wrongly she was a man. When will it change?! Will it change?! I am certainly going to do my bit by trying to educate Sebastian on the issue. Anyways... Happy International Women's Day!

War Muesum
We had an extra night and day in Vietnam. This was quite nice as usually schools rush you back. We had dinner together Sunday night and Monday I wandered around exploring. I went to the war museum, which was unsurprisingly very depressing. Seems we have not learnt a thing. Maybe all the world powers should take a time out and visit some. I just cannot believe they/we continue to let history repeat itself.
Sunday night dinner and walk around. I was admiring the beauty of this building and then saw the sign. Is it a sign?!
