Bangkok Songkran

Bangkok has grown on me loads in the last year.  I would rather not live in any city but as most International schools are in cities, this one I am increasingly enjoying.  I mean to be honest anywhere in Thailand is pretty fabulous.  Thai's are the best, it is safe, the food is amazing, it is crazy beautiful and we just had a nine day holiday for 500 pounds.  We came back a day early from the beach to enjoy Bangkok Songkran.  This was not a decision that I totally supported as it meant one less day at the beach. . But it was crazy fun.  We all had a great time, the city is electric and now I am properly exhausted.  

We ran into all our Bangkok besties on Soi 11 (the party road close to our flat) and it was just a great ending to the holiday.

 

Happy Songkran 2024

April 13th was the first day of the three day celebration for the Thai New Year.  This means three days of a huge country wide water fight.  We enjoyed day 1 still in Koh Lanta, having a blast.  This 8 day holiday was one of the best ones I have had for years.  It was wonderful to have so many people with us.  Sebastian had the best time with his friends, which in turn made it easier for us.  The night before we left my heart was literally bursting with love!  Our last day, this trip, was spent eating well, having water fights and generally having an amazing time.

Lanta Beach Resort

We have learnt a lot this trip.  The main thing is that we had to graduate from our very basic hut deserted beach sort of travel to a more substantial beach bungalow with kids all around.  My favourite place is now Lanta Nature Beach, where we also came at Christmas.  It is perfect for us now, still a deal at 15 pounds a night beach front but sturdy, clean, and with a small pool. I love this beach. It has so much character, great restaurants and is just beautiful.  You could easily be here with a family for a week for under 300 pounds.  Vegan food everywhere and perfect for families.  It actually feels like a festival all along on the beach, chilled vibe with all the festival type flags.

Our first full day back here we spent seeing old friends from our Phuket days, chilling on the beach, building sand castles, food and fire shows.

Water Park Fun

Today we went to a great water park.  Well great for Sebastian as in most places he would never be allowed to do all the slides he did. It was slightly nerve wracking as the 9 year old in our group would not do them.  And Sebastian jumped on every slide without even looking at the slope or height.  I was on tender hooks the entire time.  But we all survived and spent a lazy afternoon before an evening at the beach and fire show.
