Sky Train and Frankie

This week we finally went on the sky train.  Game changer and the end of taxis.  It is so fast, easy, cheap, clean and the best bit of all - avoids the traffic!  Luis was super excited to take Sebastian and Sebastian was so happy to go.

Nin also came for the adventure.  His love is deepening.

On Monday night Frankie and her friends returned.  We have been enjoyed having them here, especially Sebastian.  Tonight we went back to Nin's restaurant, it was just amazing.  Frankie and friends were so impressed and loved the meal.  Sebastian is going to miss them all so much.

NIST International School and the End of Summer

On Monday I started orientation at NIST International School Bangkok.  I do not think I could have or could still be more nervous.  It does not get much better than this reputation rise and it was clear within minutes that the reputation is well deserved.  There are about 24 new staff and all have massive resumes, and very impressive ones at that.  I am feeling slightly out of depth and nervous but equally so excited that Sebastian will be attending this school.

The night before the big day we had dinner at one of our favourites 'The Vegan Table'.  Best vegan pizza I have ever had.

Sebastian's playground in early years and their small swimming pool.

The school is right downtown and a 7 minute walk from our door.  It is under major renovation and although impressive now will be crazy in a few years.  There are about 1780 students from 76 nations and they teach 13 languages.  In fact, languages is what they are known for, the program is truly unbelievable.

We had a day of Thai culture and language yesterday.  They made special meals for us non meat eaters.  I am still nervous abut excited to be part of such a fantastic team and school.

Sebastian's New Friends

Sebastian was super excited that we got excited down to 8C for dinner on Saturday night.  They have a two-year-old and four-year-old and loads of toys.  He had a wonderful time and us even better.  Last week we met Joe in the pool, he was new to NIST last year and just moved into our building.  He and his wife, Pam, kindly had us for Indian and martinis on Saturday.    It was a great evening and super to see Sebastian making friends.

Fun times!

Nin

When coming here, we wanted someone to help with Sebastian who became more like family to him and us.  I think that is something he really lacks away from family and friends, Aunties, Uncles, and Grandparents.  Those people who love him loads, we had that with Alison our first year in The Bahamas and were hoping to have that here.  We had spoken to Nin a few months back as the family she was working for was leaving the school.  She agreed to come and work with Sebastian and she is fabulous.  He loved her from the first moment, in fact, we all did.  On Thursday it was her birthday and she invited us to her husband's restaurant for dinner.  It was fantastic and they were so good to us.

It was a great dinner and Sebastian had a fabulous time dancing with Nin.  We are all very happy about having her as part of our lives.

Above 11, Fraiser Suites

Since I got this job, Luis started researching places to eat and things to do.  Above 11, a nearby rooftop bar was number one on his list.  A Peru/Japan fusion bar that allowed children.  We went yesterday evening just to check it out.  Luis was in his element.

Not an everyday place as quite pricey for Bangkok.  But definitely one for the guests.

May Kaidee Adventure

On Monday we decided to venture out of our neighbourhood and to the popular Khao San Road area.  More specifically to a famous vegan restaurant that we thought we had been to before, May Kaidee.  We found it after quite the adventure only to learn it was only open at dinner. We tried to find another one only to find out it was closed.  But it all turned out great as we ended up with a fabulous Thai lunch.  And it was vegan, so everyone was a winner.

We had a great day out.  It was a different Khao San Road than I remember, basically before Covid.  It use to be buzzing. day and night, I was so surprised to see how quiet it was.  Barely anything open, I think still busy at night but it certainly has changed.

Trail and Tail, Bangkok

Lola is definitely the star of our move.  Almost 17 and now in a concrete jungle.  She must be wondering where her beach is.  But she is fantastic and seems very happy and content in her new spot.  However, there are no places around us to take her.  I am determined that she loves Bangkok as much as we have so far, in search of dog-friendly places.  Yesterday brought us to Trail and Tail.  It was pretty impressive but mainly for very posh dogs.  You could get doggy massages and the whole setup was impressive but expensive.  It was worth it though as Lola was so happy to see grass.

After we went to The Vegan Table a short walk from our flat.  Amazing and will get it's own blog.
The main challenge is getting home from these places.  We can easily get a Tuk Tuk there but home is a different story and we had to wait quite a while in the hot sun before a taxi took pity on us (they are not keen on Lola in car).
