Ayutthaya Historical Park

Last week we sorted out the battery for our car (died during the summer) and decided it was time to have a family adventure.  We headed to second Siamese capital after Sukhothai.  It was founded in 1350 and flourished for 400 years.  It was strategically located on an island surrounded by three rivers connecting the city to the sea.   The city was attacked and burned to the ground by the Burmese army in 1767.  The city was never rebuilt and the next capital was built downstream, Bangkok.
Luis has wanted to go for years and only an hour our of the city I am sure we will find ourselves there quite a lot.  It was so beautiful, dog friendly and we found a lovely place to stay for 25 pounds/30US a night.
A small gated with about 8 bungalows.  Sebastian loved scooting up and down this cobble path that reminded me so much of our home in Canada growing up.
Lola was thrilled to be in grass again.

Our first lunch was at a riverside restaurant.  I did not rate it so looked at trip advisor for dinner and found an amazing place, Sala Ayutthaya.

That Saturday afternoon we just ventured around a few temples.

Amazing dinner view and restaurant.

The best Thai food I have had in ages, five star hotel, dinner cost 25 pounds.
A little art gallery in the hotel too. Lovely.
