Sebastian was very excited for Alison's birthday and all the surprises he had lined up for her. He is extremely lucky to have her in his life and wanted to make sure she was spoiled for her big day. He had to ask me for help as even though I am not very good at baking he knows he cannot use the oven just yet.
We were lucky enough to come back to school and have a long weekend immediately. We started it off by a few people over on Friday night and a small celebration for Peter's 50th birthday. Saturday we went to the botanical gardens for a walk and then had a movie day. And Sunday we were invited to a delicious lunch at Ali and Simon's. Alison could definitely open a restaurant, her food is so fantastic. She made everything vegan for me, even a great apple crumble.
We have desperately missed Thailand for so many reasons. There is no doubt that moving during a pandemic has not helped or that we were unable to say goodbye. But we did love it there and looking back I did not quite realise how much. I miss the happy, friendly helpful people, the Asian culture, the food, all our friends and my old baby club. In fact, baby group is one of the things that I am most sad about. We had so much fun together and I really would have loved Sebastian to have grown a bit more with these fabulous babies. This morning when I got this picture, form Aloni, I almost cried. How I miss them! How he misses them!
The last month we have had neighbours. They rented the house next door and have spent the month working remotely. We have all stayed in our bubble but as they are departing on Saturday and have largely just stayed on the beach we had them over for some nachos. I think we all feel the days are numbered before cases go up again. I have spent months bragging about Barbados and Thailand success and now both places are facing more cases and new restrictions. It feels almost inevitable that we will follow. In the meantime we continue to keep a low profile and are just so thankful for the time that we have. It is so sad watching the news now, it just feels like this will go on for sometime yet and well it is depressing.
Ever since we arrived in Grand Bahama I have heard how oddly the weather was behaving. This in turn had caused our beach not to be the one that I imagined. And it has been pretty great anyways, but we kept being told that is gets better. Well I believe everyone now. For a few days this week, this was our backyard.
I am not an artist in the making, but I have thoroughly enjoyed painting animals for Sebastian's bedroom. Eventually I will post pictures on here, just waiting for it all to be done. I have even got Luis and his mum into it and I am jus sure one of them will become a renowned painter one day.
Sebastian got invited to his first party yesterday and if he is anything like his parents this is the beginning of many a party (might take a bit more time due to Covoid but eventually..). Axel, his BFF on the island, turned two yesterday. A space theme, lots of space to run and play, and even another little girl. He had a brilliant time and left exhausted and happy.
