Dance and Crazy Hour :)

I had a brilliant post from yesterday's Sunday brunch all lined up, but it will have to wait!!  This is far more exciting than my meeting real life Trump supporters.
Our wedding photos, done by Dylan George, and they are fantastic!! I will end up posting most I am sure but am going to start with our first dance and crazy hour ones, mainly as we have not seen many of these.  But later on this week, I will add the family ones and other amazing ones he has taken.  I am soooo happy!!!

GREAT photos!  And such a great party!

Placemats and Napkins

Last night we finally christened one of our favourite wedding presents.   These gifts were given to use from Nicola and Paddy, they are ridiculously thoughtful and beautiful.  The placemats in coasters we use all time, they are so unique and special.  The napkins I am a little more precious about though as I do not want them to stain or fade in colour.
I finally took out four of the eight but only..
.. for Kim and Shaun to see them and then I put them away and gave out paper ones.  We our saving them for Royalty.
These are two of my favourites, each one is different and well they are pretty great.
Even with the paper napkins we had a nice meal, one we will be eating for days as Luis made enough beans and rice to feed a small army.
We hen taught them how to play our favourite card game, curenta.
They really enjoyed it.  I would have enjoyed it more had the girl team won!

Planning and Collaborating

Who would have thought two months ago that me and Luis would be sitting around on a Friday night talking teaching, certainly not me!  But yep, that was our Friday night.  I helped Luis make some games for his tutoring classes today and he listened to me bang on about my hatred of setting.  Of course, being back in a British school it is back to the horrible world of setting.  Having being out of it for a while and seeing the huge benefits of scrapping it, it is definitely hard to go back to it.  Anyways, I will just have to do it and try my best to slowly convince people mixed ability is the way forward!
Luis is loving his tutoring and teaching in the school, hoping that I will get in next week to observe a lesson.
We discussed it all over a ridiculously good curry, it was a very nice break from Thai (not a long break as I just polished off a green curry for lunch!).  But I do think I have found my new favourite restaurant.
We then whipped up a little fun millionaire Spanish game for the kids he tutored this morning.  The French ones loved it, the Russian believed it too easy (he is apparently very clever and a little cocky).  I intend to help Luis make a killer game for their next session.
Today I am marking by the pool as we finally have a sunny day, and it has been ages!  Luis is busy making a ridiculous amount of rice and beans...

Pepper's Pub Quiz

A very well known fact is my love for pub quizzes, both playing in them and hosting them.  When the dry season eventually arrives (it apparently is the wettest wet season for decades, typical really) I will work on hosting some but for now attending will have to suffice.  But that is okay, as I do love a pub and would love to make one our local.  So last night we went to Pepper's Sports Pub for their weekly quiz.  The weather was horrendous but surprisingly there was still a decent turn out, although we could have done with a few more teammates.  Disappointingly we did not win or come even close but we did win the table top round (the one you can work on the whole time), it was pretty difficult and I was very impressed with our 25/30.
If you cannot read it, you had to figure out famous phrases or sayings that were represtnted by the initial letters.  For example:
Y C G B O of a S You can't get blood out of a stone
Try a few!

Jacqui joined us and we had a really nice night.  But I have to say I kinda feel for Americans now.  I am not sure if it is because I have come from an American school so my accent is more American sounding as when I went to Basel from the UK but soooo many people here make snarky comments about Americans for my benefit (again at quiz last night).  It is so bizarre, not at school, just generally.  I better work on my accent if Trump is victorious (a real worry) as I image it would get far worse!

Mummy and Lola

Well I have been fairly jealous of Lola and Luis days on the beach.  I can imagine this will only get worse as the rainy season leaves and the dry, hot sunny season begins.  I get daily snap shots daily of Lola chasing crabs and Luis chilling on the beach (not today though, today it is pouring rain).  Luckily, for me, this will die down a bit as Luis is now also at the school a few days a week, tutoring and spending some time with a charity for dogs (more to come on this).
But I have made some time for Lola this weekend.  We had some Mummy and Lola time.  Some running on the beach, eating coconuts, chasing crabs, surfing the waves and tanning on our patio.
 She gets so excited
Who is kidding who, I do too.
This coconut took a serious beating.
As did this stick before a wave came and wiped her out.
Followed by a sunny afternoon where we just chilled in the sunshine.  I do love when all of us are together the most, but I must admit having some Lola time is pretty special too (never mind most people think I am crazy as I chat away to her!)>

Pub Wekend

Anyone who has followed or looked at my blog over the past five years would know that I am a big pub lover.  I love pub culture, well  British pub culture in particular.  In fact, it was one thing I really missed in Quito, as they did not really have a proper British pub.  A pub where everyone knows your name, you can become a regular, football is playing in the back ground, hopefully a weekly pub quiz and definitely a Sunday Roast.  Well this weekend, I have been lucky enough to go to not one but two pubs and both have a Sunday Roast and a weekly pub quiz!
Richard and Sara, Richard works in my department.
Last night we had dinner at our favourite Mexican and then headed for a drink a the pub.  This one is way closer to us and I am looking forward to attending the pub quiz.

Today we went a bit further, to Patong for a Sunday Roast.  It was actually fairly delicious and I only had the veggies.  Jacqui, who has been on here once or twice organised it.  About 12 people joined mainly from the PE department.  These two are interns one from the US and one from Essex.  I learnt a lot from them today, I even think I can use Snap chat now.

Humidity

I never really got humidity before, people always ask me if Barbados is hot and humid as apparently that is a worse kind of heat and I never really knew the answer.  But now I do, and I can say that Barbados is not humid, or certainly it could be much worse.  Well I say worse, but I love the heat so actually it does not bother me.  However, I may learn to eat those words as apparently we have seen nothing yet.  Anyways, the last couple of days has been so humid that it took ages to dry our clothes like days.  Any other place I have been it would have taken no time at all to dry these clothes.  So now I finally get humidity.
Of course, the last few days have been beautiful, just after Jodi and Dylan have gone.  It is properly lovely and I must say I have been a little jealous of Lola and Luis at the beach.  Of course, it does not help when he sends photos like this when I am at school..

And I respond with ones like these..

Today is another beautiful day and I fully intend to run straight to the beach, well probably drive, who can run when it is this humid (showing off now with my new found understanding).
