My Surprise

I have spent the morning thinking about whether to post this picture.  But as I would like this blog to also work as a kind of diary for me to look back on when I am 90 and cannot remember my name let alone what I was doing in Switzerland, I decided to include it.  This is what I woke up to this morning... And I do not know why, will report it and am fairly unhappy about it :(
It is my car (in case not obvious)

True Bachelorette

Last night Lola and I were lucky enough to go to Emily and Dave's house for dinner.  I originally wanted to have them over for dinner to say thank you for looking after Lola but somehow it ended up that we went there (probably as they have had my cooking before!).  We had a great night, started with a better late than never toast to their engagement this year.  Emily made a delicious vegetable curry and I know I am really becoming a proper bachelorette when for the second time this week I was sent home with a doggie bag.

Lola's Week

So I (Lola) like to pretend when Mum goes away that I have had a horrible time.  When she comes home I like to storm around the flat acting all abandoned, sleep on the sofa, possibly chew a shoe, anything to make it clear that I am not happy that she left me.  Last week (while she was gallivanting around California) she left me with Aunty Maria and then Aunty Emily who annoyingly sent Mum these pictures, so I can hardly pretend that I had anything but a fabulous time, thanks alot.

School's In

I made it back late yesterday afternoon, to a huge pile of laundry, a very excited dog and a lovely catch up with Suzanna (neighbour).  And now I am back in school facing a huge stack of marking, planning, reports, and have just hit a wall and it is only twelve o'clock.  I did think I was dealing with this jet lag quite well, and am now thinking of asking my Grade 7's if they would mind if i took a teeny tiny nap...

Nob Hill

Here are my last few images of San Francisco, a city that I totally fell in love with (sorry no mischief to report from last night, I did manage a bar and a chat with some locals, but did not end up in jail or anything exciting like that).

Firstly, this was my hotel, how fabulous and it was just on the corner of 'Tendernob' street...

This is the great hand bag I bought today, I love it!

Proof that I am actually here and not just posting random pictures on my blog (look closely you can see my tattoos).

And finally, something I take great exception to is that some Californian wine makers have the audacity to call their sparkling wine Champagne. Champagne can only be made in Champagne that is the point, that is why we have prosecco (Italian), cava (Spanish) and a whole bunch of other sparkling wines that are not called Champagne as they are not from there.

Me, Myself and I

I am thinking that these entries are fairly boring as they are all about sight seeing. Tonight, is my last night and I will try my best to get in some sort of mischief to make the next one a bit more exciting. Until then, the following are pictures taking you through my day. I started the day looking at some of the famous spots, below is the famous Lombard street..

After walking around fisherman's wharf for awhile I decided that it was possibly time for a cheeky holiday drink as just after 12, at the exact same time I spotted this chair (apparently their 'acceptable' time is slightly later than mine)...

But thought screw it, I am on holiday but did think to have some lunch too..

After lunch I wandered around some more and then spent some time sun tanning and reading a book beside these very pretty flowers.

I then decided to take in some culture..
And visit China..
And look at some important sights..

San Fran

So as it became clear quite early on in the week I am in California (really was going to try and draw it out but was rubbish at that!). I came to visit a friend (Bajans all over the world), to practice some surfing and also see some sights. Sadly, the temp dramatically dropped the day of my arrival so surfing looked fairly unlikely (and did not happen). But I have been lucky enough to visit many great places, Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Redwood Forest, San Jose and now San Francisco for my last few days. I am pretty proud of myself as having a really nice time with my own company here and I have not done anything too stupid yet. Although I must admit the lady at the hotel stopped me when I was heading out this evening to show me where to avoid. However, I had already visited this place earlier in the day and must say I did think that it was probably the last place I should be. In saying that I saw some things I have never seen before and I really wanted to take some pictures for the blog, but thought it may go down like a lead balloon (sorry love blog, but value life too!).
