After a fabulous Saturday, we enjoyed a great Sunday brunch together.
I love them!
All about our past adventures in and around Basel, Switzerland; Quito, Ecuador; Phuket Thailand; Grand Bahama, The Bahamas; and now back in Thailand. Featuring Amanda, Luis, Sebastian and of course Lola
Yesterday morning, after a horrendous journey (missed her connection and had to a night in Florida and get a new ticket), Jen made it to Grand Bahama! I could not be more thrilled to have both Mandy and Jen here, the only thing that would make this week better is if Tracy and Amy surprised us. We did not waste any time yesterday and had a great day together. I am so super happy that they are here.
Waking up Thursday to see Russia had declared war on Ukraine was devastating. Obviously, war is just terrible in any circumstance but it felt so much closer to home as Tanya is from there. We discuss it all the time and the day before she still felt confident that Putin would not dare to try to go to Kyiv, but well we were sadly all wrong. I saw Tanya dropping off Sebastian yesterday morning and was instantly brought to tears. She is keeping in close contact with her mother and family but well that is little comfort I am sure. Yesterday was also the day that Mandy flew in, so of course, I was super happy to see her. And also wine club. I was so happy that Tanya came and tried to get her mind off it for a bit. It was not easy and it is well just so devastating. How do people not learn? Why are we always doomed to repeat history?
On Wednesday we did another kidless adventure to the far East of the island, Pelican Point. We saw no pelicans but the beaches were beautiful. We went to Bishops for lunch and I have sworn off french fries for the rest of my life. I have them so often as nowhere has vegetarian let alone vegan.
Yesterday was a beach day at Diamonds. I must say a 'staycation' is a lot less work than traveling, especially these days. We would usually go somewhere even for a week break but these last two years meant that this was too short a time (and well places were closed!). We are loving these week breaks of just chilling in our spot. Megan's Mum came for a week and it was a perfect excuse to host a beach day.
