Saba's 13th Birthday

We were honoured to be invited to Saba's 13th birthday dinner.  Nadia and David are certainly doing something right, they have two wonderful children. Saba could possibly be the most mature, head switched on teenager I know.

It is also interesting to talk to both Nadia and David as uncertainty grows around the world with Trump at the helm of the US.  It is certainly an unsettling time.  NIST also has many people in our community that worked for agencies that have been affected and closed their doors.  Now they are trying to navigate what's next, not easy, especially for our students.

New Lucho Lifestyle

After the scare last week, Luis has committed to a new healthy lifestyle.  We kicked it off yesterday with a walk in the park after school.  I cannot believe we have not been doing this since we arrived.  The air is a lot better these days, and it felt great to get out there.  Today Bruce departs, but it is not long before our next visitor arrives. In fact not even 24 hours!

Some pictures along the way.  We were even matching, although I did not clock that until right now.

Maternal Grandparents Jimmy, Maggie and Mum

Last night I could not sleep and for some reason thought it was a better idea to scroll through some Facebook accounts and steal some photos.

Maggie and her sister Elsie (who I loved very much)

The sisters again

My grandmother, who played five instruments.  This being one.
Oh and this one also - my Mum in the back third from the right.

Chat GTP - Maggie Cozier Margaret "Maggie" Cozier (1915–1998) was a notable Barbadian artist. Largely self-taught, she began exhibiting her work at age 16 and was active in the Trinidad Art Society from 1947 to 1953. She was married to journalist Edward Lloyd "Jimmy" Cozier and was the mother of renowned cricket commentator Tony Cozier.

Chat GTP - Edward Lloyd "Jimmy" Cozier was a prominent Barbadian journalist renowned for his significant contributions to Caribbean media. He held editorial positions at several newspapers across the region, including the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian, the Voice of St. Lucia, and the Barbados Advocate. Notably, he founded the Barbados Daily News, further cementing his influence in Caribbean journalism.

Beyond his journalistic endeavors, Cozier was instrumental in the development of bridge in Barbados. His vision led to the establishment of the Barbados Bridge League, and in recognition of his contributions, the league's dedicated venue is named the "Jimmy Cozier Bridge Centre."

Cozier's legacy extends to his family; his son, Tony Cozier, became a distinguished cricket commentator and writer, often referred to as the voice of West Indies cricket. Tony's illustrious career in sports journalism was undoubtedly influenced by his father's dedication to the craft.

For those interested in a deeper insight into his life and career, Jimmy Cozier authored an autobiography titled Caribbean Newspaperman: An Autobiography: The Life and Times of Jimmy Cozier, chronicling his experiences and contributions to journalism in the Caribbean

Sunday Lasagna's and Lemon Pie

Sunday I again took Sebastian out with a friend.  This was one expensive weekend.  But this one was easier for me, lunch at The Deck where free children's entertainment is provided.  And I was lucky enough to have Bruce to entertain me.  Afterwards, Luis had Sebastian for a few hours at the pool.  For some crazy reason instead of chilling in front of the TV, I decided to make a lasagna and then attempt my first lemon meringue pie EVER.  I would say it was a 65% success but the real failure was the crust.  I think the lemon part was spot on, even Sebasian thought so.  And I know Sebastian tells me the truth as 10 minutes before I gave him that he told me my lasagna was not good.

A very tiring weekend for all.

Finally the Wekeend

Yippee! Friday arrived!  We had a relaxing Friday with friends and Sebastian had a movie night.  Saturday I took him and his bestie from St. Vincent (but lived his life in Barbados!) on a playdate.  A very long playdate! But they had a blast. Saturday, I took Bruce and Luis out for dinner to celebrate life, friends and love.

ruce extended his trip to help in case we needed him.  He will leave on Tuesday and I will miss him dearly!
