Chucky

This was definitely one of my better ideas.  What to dress a baby up as, why not one of the scariest dolls of all time! One of the lady's from school invited us to her neighbourhood who were having a 'trunk or treat', you give candy from the boot of your car. It was so much fun, even if it was only for an hour or so and Sebastian played the part perfectly. He let us draw scars on him, spray paint his hair, and he even loved the numb chucks.  Luis and I borrowed costumes last minute, mine was a little hot.

Sebastian was the hit of the street.  Although Axel looked fairly cool as well, he was part of a family rock band.  Loved it!

Long Week

I have never had so little time to myself before.  Ever.  And it means I am so behind on my blog.  This is so stressful to me, I actually lose sleep over not recording things on here.  This week was a very busy week, we had our first online parents evening which is always exhausting and well it just felt busy.  Thankfully, we did have time to unwind on the beach with some walks with the kids.

So we cannot really complain when our evenings are spent like this.

Another Wet Weekend

It is getting a bit old now, the rainy weekend after a rainy weekend.  As we approach November I am hoping this means a slow down of the stormy weather.

Saturday morning there was an hour or two of sunshine so we were straight out for a walk on the beach.  The water is far too cold for me to go in now.  99% of other people would go straight in, not me.

Sebastian took the opportunity to work on his artwork.  Looks like he will be a great artist like his Grandmother, Great grandmother, and Granny Andy.
I mean these are some serious skills
And Luis had some mechanic lessons in between his studies.  Here is hoping for a sunny one this upcoming weekend.

15 Months

Happy 15 months big boy (bit late as was the 23rd)!  And that he is, he seems to grow loads overnight and every day he is stronger and more curious than the day before.  He loves all his beach adventures and days with us and Alison.  He saw his first set of dolphins but is still far more impressed with birds (just love birds).  He loves chasing Lola around and his first words every morning are 'Bow wow' (his name for dogs).  In fact, those are pretty much all his words all day.  He also says Mama quite a lot, but for everyone and he has just got the hang of 'Uh oh'.  And he continues to be the happiest sweetest toddler ever.

Best friends, possibly a bit forced but it will happen!
Your family is back together again.
A meal out with some new friends

Sebastian and Lola, he cannot get enough of her.

That Friday Feeling

We had very much intended on doing nothing this weekend.  Luis has a big University project due this week and well our pocketbooks were looking very empty. But the first week back with students was so surreal we thought we needed a Friday celebration.  And as we are not too keen on going to bars right now and with Sebastian we decided to make our home the Friday venue.  We had a few more new people as we try and meet some more people.  There is an amazing coral reef restoration project on the island and Luis is very keen to get involved.  One of the founders and his girlfriend came and also a couple we met who work for the UN and their two children.  It was a very nice way to spend the evening and I think all had a nice time.

The Friday crew

I wish I had gotten more photos but my phone was the music and these two little ones were all about the dancing and Sebastian of course.  Emmi and Ewing are the children of our two new friends Peter and Sinead.  They LOVE LOVE Lola and it was nice for her to get some huge attention as sometimes Sebastian can get all of it.
How grown-up does he look here!  Where is our baby?!!  He had the best night on the dance floor.  I have not had a dance for ages and it was so nice with the kids.

Face to Face Teaching

For the first time in almost a year and a half, I stood in front of students this week.  I was so nervous for a million and one reasons.  As it turns out it was in fact pretty challenging.  We only have half the students back in and next week we will have the other half.  Therefore, we are still online half the day.  And it is far from normal with the ones in the classroom.  Everyone is wearing masks, of course, and sitting 6 feet away from each other.  The students cannot mix between their groups and it is hard to teach people when I am wearing a mask and they are.  It is almost easier online as it is so important to be able to read faces.  Having said that even with the restrictions the kids were very happy to be there.  By the end of the week, it was a bit better but I do feel for them.  Oh and today we were put back online following a Covoid scare on campus.   I think it will be that sort of academic year.

On another note, Lola cola had a good week.  She is on about 6 pills a day to try and sort out a few infections so was a bit low at the beginning.  Last night though she played chase with Luis and it was so great to see her back running around.

Sebastian loves being in charge of walking her.

It was an overcast long week.  But this sun is shining today and it is a bit cooler.  We are looking forward to a nice weekend ahead.

Sunday Brunch with Sebastian's BFF

I am not sure that Axel would agree with Sebastian being his BFF but we are working on it.  Sebastian can be a little full-on, he means it with total love but all the hugging and squeezing can be a bit much.  Poor Axel is not really sure yet.  Either way, they have very little choice as we have decided that is what is happening and we had a great morning Sunday cementing the friendship.

This is the other side of the bay from our beach.  It is beautiful.  A great way to spend our last day before we start school again.  It is going to be weird being in a classroom especially with the million restrictions we will have. But I will try and enjoy it as I cannot imagine not being back online by Christmas.

Newbie Catch Up

It feels like we did not see Simon and Alison for ages having gotten used to seeing them pretty much every day.  When we saw them it felt like we had loads of things to catch up on.  We always take notes of things we have found and new places to explore.  Our excitement was about a shop that they had told us about that we loved.  To be honest, it is just a regular shop, a small department store but it had things we could buy and that was very exciting.

One of our exciting Kelly's purchases

As always delicious food and great company.
