Hua Hin Run For Life Race

I almost didn’t race. My knee was hurting from a fall and there was no age category so did not think really worth hurting my knee further.  But I thought I made all stay in hotel so I should probably try. I was so happy I went as somehow managed a third place finish. The last two km’s were very painful but I pushed through to get the bronze medal.  I felt very proud standing on the stage with the two 21 year old twins that got gold and silver, at 48.

Love for Sam Roi Yod

We enjoyed the last night in our house before heading to Hua Hin for a night in a hotel as I had a race on Sunday. The noise was just magical and we really enjoyed the area. Very few people and the mountains and beach were beautiful. Luis will really miss his daily visits from Cookie the parrot who loved standing on his shoulder and at the last second finally went to me.  We loved our group dinners, movie nights and just relaxing. I even read two whole books. I have not done that for years!

Black Mountain Water Park, Hua Hin

To celebrate the first day of 'Thai winter' we went to a nearby water park.  The best thing about this waterpark is a new huge water park has recently been built in the same city and most people go there.  There was probably 40 people at the water park, it was great. Also, the slides were perfect for our age range of kids.  They could do everything.

We then had an evening of playing cards, eating dinner and watching the kids make up their own fun games in the yard.

Relaxation, Friends, Sun

What a great few days it has been.  The house is just gorgeous and the beach nearby.  Friends close by and others at another beach, giving Sebastian lots of people to play with.  Tuesday night Bayeme and Lauren arrived to stay with us, Sebastian was super excited to have a playmate in the house.  I have even read two books in three days.  I have probably read one book in five years.  After a full on hectic summer and return to school this is what the doctor ordered.

Sam Roi Yod - Peaks and Beaches House

Saturday morning we drove down to our 'free house'(house exchange) in Sam Roi Yod, four hours South of Bangkok.  It is where our first ladies triathlon in March was (the one we were robbed in).  The house is amazing, and the area so beautiful.  Also lacking any tourists so quiet and lovely.  Janelle and her family have a house near by and on Tuesday we will be joined by Lauren and Bayeme who will be staying with us.  The house next door has a parrot that loves visiting us.  Although Sebastian is terrified of it.  Luis is in love (with the bird).

Dinner at Janelle's house.

The bird gave him a little gift on his back.

The house is lovely, with even a separate guest house.  Loads of space for our baseball and football matches and even I set up a movie room in one of the bedrooms.  This house exchange is properly amazing.

Finally Break Starting with Andrew and Lyndsey

What a long first half of the term.  12 long weeks, we have never gone that long and a break has never felt more needed.  Friday after school Andrew and Lyndsey invited us to their new building for dinner.  They might be only a few streets over but in Bangkok it is like a whole other country.  I miss having them in the building terribly.   They put on quite the spread and we had a great first evening of the break.
