Welcome Back Wine Club

Wine club last night was great (if I do say so myself!).  I did wine bingo (guess the wines and get the bingo) and bit of a quiz.  It was a nice size group, a good proportion of teachers and non teachers and just a lot of fun. Oh and I made a spinach dip that all loved, not often I make something that is a hit!

Nadia's first wine club! After all these years :)

The two winners! A fun night in the books.

Lola Cola Weekend Away

It was a great family get away.  Ploy resort was better then I expected and the whole two days cost less than our dinner Friday night.  But by far the best thing was seeing Lola out of Bangkok and on holiday.  She still is not walking great but way better and had a new lease of life.  She enjoyed the holiday more than any of us and I will ensure we do it more.

We found a vegan Thai restaurant and ate way too much!  But it was so yummy! Cannot wait to go back :)

Kanchantanburi Get Away

I have been trying to go this small hotel in Kanchantanburi (on the River Kwai, best known for the death railway) that has rave reviews, is super inexpensive and takes Lola and finally they had a cancellation Saturday night.  I jumped on it and we headed for a mini road trip Saturday night.  The hotel was perfect, being on the river is so calming and very different from our life on Soi 13 Bangkok.  It is strange that this little town has done so well off this part of history.  There are so many Allied family members coming to see where there family members were and others just to see a part of history.  We had a lovely lunch, a swim and went to see the birdge.

From Barbados to Bangkok

Just under two months ago we were on a beach together in Bangkok and now we are here in Bangkok.  I am so Lu my to have Nadia and family a five minute walk away and I plan to take full advantage of their proximity. The kids get on so well, despite the age gaps and they are just such a lovely family to be around. Friday night I suggested going to a restaurant they introduced us too. It was a fun evening of tacos, sombreros and some dancing (by the kids).

Back To School Night Year 1

Last night I went to Sebastian's Back to School Night, which is a chance for me to see his classroom, his teacher and learn a bit about what he is doing this year.  I often forget what a major bonus it is that my teaching at NIST includes Sebastian's tuition.  It is $35,000US a year for his age, and no parent complains as NIST has done an excellent job of making it worth every penny.  I would like to do something else with my life, have a change from Maths teaching and then I go to the evening last night and realise that it is worth it.  I will have to stick it out for a few years yet!  Sebastian's Year 1 centre is amazing (I have never been before), the activities they do throughout the day (swimming, art, music, Thai language, Thai culture, Maker spacers etc), are amazing.   And even better Sebastian LOVES it, or should I say he LOVES his teacher.  Like properly fallen head over heels in love.  He only talks about her and blushes at the mention of her name.  So it was no surprise to me that when the teacher showed us the wall where the students made pictures all about them.  Ms. Katherine got the LOVE card, and me and Luis the LIKE card!

His beautiful classroom.
Their emotion board.  Him and Ellie were feeling CRAZY that day.  I love this, as Ellie was in his baby group in Phuket, featured in his book an dis now in the same class as Sebastian.
All his likes and loves.
I love...
I like...

HAHAHAHAH!

First Week Done

What a long week and well deserved weekend! We overcame multiple jet lags, new starts (Luis and Sebastian in big school) and just settling back in.  I now have free time after two years of having Sebastian full time on my own on weekends and after school and Luis adjusting to not have to tutor all night and weekend.  I have so many things that I could be doing now and I just have to find out how to use this time.  I am thinking tennis or paddle or some other new activity.  This weekend we hung out with friends at the pool, found a new great Mexican and spent Sunday afternoon with Chris.  He has the best view ever and it was great to catch up with him.

And now starts week 2.
