All about our past adventures in and around Basel, Switzerland; Quito, Ecuador; Phuket Thailand; Grand Bahama, The Bahamas; and now back in Thailand. Featuring Amanda, Luis, Sebastian and of course Lola
It was lucky that we even had a chance to get to dinner with friends as it seems most of the time we are now tied up with Sebastian's social calendar. This past weekend, we had a couple play dates, a birthday party, it is busy times!
Friday Princess fun with Ary and Andy
Saturday birthday party with what was a great magician, until he pulled the bird and dog out from a box. The poor things were probably in there since the last show.
Sunday I took him and a friend out of the city for lunch and a play.
And he managed to finish this already sugar filled weekend with this huge vegan ice cream Sundae. Something got lost in translation when I said SMALL scoop of vanilla. I did steal a few spoonfuls and it was delciious.
Time just flys! We always intend to get together and then weeks turn into months. But finally we managed a dinner together. A delicious homemade Indian dinner. Sebastian loves being with them, as one they love to play with him and two they love to sneak him treats.
A nice catch up and again deciding to do it more often.
December I had organised a bubbly Christmas wine club celebration. But sadly I had to cancel as I was in recovery from my near death experience (that sounds slightly dramatic but looking back I realise just how scared I was). But all good now, so bubbles night finally went a head last night.
Sebastian helping me set up, he really hates missing out and was dying to stay up for the party.
One of the things I love about this international career is how connected it is. Now that I have been to quite a few schools, I am always finding connections. I met Dee, through Jacqui and she has been coming to wine club for the last few months. Previously she worked in Japan, with Kim (who is still in Japan), my very good friend from Phuket days. We took this one for her!
And she sent this straight back. A great way to keep in touch.
The Christmas theme was sparkles, many forgot but a few still came ready.
The rest of the weekend we explored the city and saw some dinosaurs. On Sunday evening I took Sebastian to the movies as Luis was working. I got him there very late, which meant to he did not have much time to play on the slides. He does not actually watch the film, no kids do, they just play on the slide and the balls within the movie theatre. But this short time did not stop him from making friends. And by the end of the film he decided he wanted to go to the playground with them. When they were leaving to go to McDonalds (somewhere, I am happy to report he has never been), he invited the whole family for noodle soup. And they all happily came. By the end they were all best friends.
City fun.
Our newest friends from Georgia. They just came three months ago and now Sebastian is looking forward to his next playdate. As am I!
Friday I went to Phuket for the night. Just to catch up with Luke and his new girlfriend and see some other friends. It was great to just do this on a whim, and have some me time.
I have to remember to take more pictures! It seems Sebastian has taken over my photo roll and when he is not around I forget.
Luke did not remember about breakfast items, but he did have these luxury items for bedtime so I was impressed.
Luckily, I was spending the day with Jacqui whose father did put on a breakfast spread. I cannot believe I did not get a picture with Lue and Celia. I has super happy to get to see them as they were away at Christmas.
Last week was a busy one for me, report card writing.. It meant most of my time on the computer was spent on this rather than writing this blog. But I did try to add some fun time in there as well. Most importantly, a way to escape my mundane routine of walking five minutes to school and staying indoors all day and walking five minutes home and never leaving our flat. There is a combination of reasons for this routine... Sebastian being exhausted, Luis's tutoring hours and also I am tired. But I am determined to change this. Wednesday I invited people in the building down to the pool after school for a swim and pizza. It was wonderful to get out and lots of children and adults came.
Sebastian then when upstairs, exhausted but happy and ready for bed (a rare occurence).
It is also Chinese New Year and Sebastian had a lovely celebration at school.
But the biggest news by far is Sebastian joining gymnastics school at a local gymnastics club. He will go twice a week and so far he has loved it.
At 600 Baht a person (14 pounds, 18 dollars) this was such great value! Dream World is a very small Bangkok version of Disney. It was a great day out, we did so much in one day. Sebastian saw his first snow in 'Snow World', went on his first roller coaster (which was very fast), saw his first 4D show and went in a scary haunted house. He also won five prizes that he was very proud of. The food was crazy cheap as was the games and it really was just a great day out. And best bit, no queues!
Speedy Mouse - super fast! This one we did loads.
Playing cards with the dead people outside the haunted house. He was so scared but loved it and made us do it twice.
This was also very cool, you can control how high up and down you go.
Who would have thought first snow would be in Thailand! This 'Snow World' was amazing. He loved it!
Great water park for kids (also one for adults), even a dinosaur came to visit.
We all left very tired and happy after a very fun Sunday.
