February Wine Club

It is getting bigger and it is so diverse.  We had 13 people on Thursday night from, Cuba, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, United States, Ireland, Canada, UK, The Bahamas, and Colombia.  I love that about this wine club, as each one I have loved something different.

Latin Corner

There was a tie with my wine tasting game, therefore I made this tie breaker.  You had to roll in the glass of wine and drink it first.

The theme for the night was 'guess the country'.  All the wine was from the same country and I gave them 9 countries to narrow down with the key grapes from each country.  It was such a fun night and with curfew moved till 11pm, quite a late one for me!

Lucaya National Park and Bishop's

On Thursday we had an adventure day with our neighbour Bruce and Simon and Alison.  Bruce has lived here for more than twenty years so he knows a lot about the Bahamas.  In fact, he gave up his Canadian citizenship to become Bahamian.  He does not usually do this sort of thing much these days so we were thrilled he agreed to go with us.  And we all had a brilliant day.

Setting off

The Caves at the National Park, apparently country with second most under ground caves in the world.

Then to Bishops for lunch, a famous establishment on the island.
Happy people

A really nice day and we were so happy that Bruch came as he is such a wealth of knowledge about the island. We are looking for many more during our Easter break.

The Big Slide

Sebastian has graduated to the big slide!  The bigger the better.  We took him to our school pay ground and he could not get enough of it.  I just love these action shots.  He was squealing with joy running around.

Happy faces all round at nap time.

Emmy and Ewan Playdate

I have always loved borrowing children.  Even when I was a teenager I would borrow my boyfriends much younger sisters out for the day.  And I have been doing it ever since.  Half term is hard for lots of parents who work when their kids are off, so with great pleasure we had Emmy and Ewan for the day.

The first stop for the day, Garden of the Groves.

Lots of exploring and finding new paths.

Sebastian nap time and movie time for everyone else.
Amanda's scavenger hunt, obstacle course.  Adults versus children, adults lost.

Finishing the day off with some playtime.  Sebastian had the best day ever and the kids left full of ice cream and pizza so they were happy.

Babies that Brunch

My child stocking is paying off and I have hunted down a few more toddlers close to Sebastian's age.   On Sunday we went to brunch with his bestie Axel and a new Mum with her son who happens to be almost Sebastian's age.  They are Cuban which is also great for Sebastian hearing others speak and Spanish and the mum Gaby is also pretty fabulous.  A win all around!

Slowly but surely our baby network is expanding!

Half Term Celebrations

Another holiday is here and although it is not what we expected to be doing, I can pretty much say most people are not doing what they thought they would be doing in February 2021.  Even though we all knew Covoid was here this time last year, not many correctly predicted it would be affecting us for so long.  I am now much wiser and would not be overly surprised if a year from now life had not changed that much, for us anyway.  I hope so but optimism has not got me very far.  That opening sounded much darker than I meant!  We kicked off the half-term break with some of our favourite people here in Grand Bahama.  Sinead, Peter and family had us over for a lovely swim and supper.

Sebastian loves the water, his lips were purple and he would not get out.  I do not like cold water but love him so managed to somehow get in this freezing pool.

Terribly, Sebastian is all about a photo.  I wonder if it has to do with the 21 000 I have taken of him, this is not an exaggeration.  A lovely start to what I hope is a relaxing week.
